Pretty in Pastel

Colour is absolutely EVERYWHERE this spring.

In Style
The catwalk is practically shouting at us to dress in bold pastels, have you noticed? Be it workwear, evening dresses, sportswear, shoes, casual slacks or even your handbag, there's no escaping how important colour blocking is to the mood and look of this season.

We couldn't be more thrilled because here at Savvy Style, colour is what we're all about. So what better reason to get you on board with the colour hype! To help you with this, we've identified the must-have items of colour clothing and accessories this season to help you spring into life, dressed in a style that is full of freshness and fun.

Mint green is all the rage and this tunic dress is so versatile. Wear it to the office with a white blazer, to weekend drinks with ballerina flats or even to a special occasion with a pair of heels. This outfit will do anything you want it to.

Coloured trousers can be a difficult style to get right. With colour block bottoms, the key is to go for a forgiving fabric and a streamlined cut. This high-waisted collection from Alice and Olivia is perfect for the vertical lines it creates with the wide flare leg and long length. With a pair of wedges (very on-trend), your legs will just keep on going. Wear this slim, tall, sophisticated look with a lighter pastel or white blouse to balance the colour.

Chloe
Top off your springtime look with a neat and sweet sherbet coloured satchel. The rigid formality of the shape combined with the femininity of the dusted candy colour and suede finish makes for a winning formula.

Tory Burch
So whether it's a pleated chiffon skirt to go with your plain tees or a bright and breezy blouse to match your linen trousers, make sure you get your new buys in pastel this season and wow everyone you know with your colour confidence and style.

Have fun and stay Savvy!

Fabulous in Flats

For us, spring trends have arrived gift wrapped in one handy little package. So we invented a simple rhyme to prove it: Pastels, Brights, Florals, Whites. Seriously, stick to this and you can’t go wrong!

This week, we’re applying it to the wonderful world of shoes and are showcasing the very best picks from this season’s flats.

Pay attention to the part at the end when we tell you how to take care of them, though. With Hong Kong’s weather showering more moisture over us than England could in one year, you’ll be needing every tip!

Just LOOK at this sherbet-y array of patent flats. They’re good enough to eat. This season, Office is shouting about: “Athletic Aesthetic. Clean lines and architectural forms typify this trend with futuristic finishes and neon flashes”. So have fun with colour and add a bit of candy to your springtime outfit.

For a crisp, fresh backdrop to your entire colourful spring dress collection, make sure you have at least one pair of white leather flats or canvas espadrilles. Shop online at Topshop for these beautifully crafted cut-outs and enjoy style and comfort.

Marc Jacobs combines no less than three of this season’s top styles to create these cute bow front flats. With the feminine lace, gorgeous floral design and bright red colour, these are a favourite to pair with white jeans or a dress.

Now, if you’re like us and love a good fashion magazine, you’ve probably noticed our next pick on your jaunts; they are a hit everywhere. These bright BB Pixel flats are guaranteed to liven up any outfit and put a spring in your step. They’re available at our very own Lane Crawford in the IFC Mall, so what are you waiting for?!

We’ll leave you with one stellar word of advice. If you’re investing in shoes that you just love, you need to invest in a way to keep them in the state you first found them. This is achievable by making one simple choice: when buying a shoe tree, opt for unvarnished cedar wood.

Jeffrey Westbrook
As soon as you take off you shoes, pop the cedar wood shoe tree in and leave it to work its magic. Not only will the tree restore shape to your shoes but it will also draw out any unwanted moisture due to rain, humidity and perspiration. This will leave your shoes dry, odour free and ready to be enjoyed again and again.

Have fun shoe shopping and stay Savvy!
